Canada Day is right around the corner, and for the first time since 2019 we’re back in full swing of Canada Day events! Scroll down to view locations, times, and descriptions of what’s happening around the Greater Edmonton Area on July 1st 2022.

 

Canada Day at the Alberta Legislature

Alberta Legislature Grounds

Starts at 12:00pm

Head to the Legislature Grounds to experience roving characters, magicians, live music, and multicultural performances. Head inside to view the film “Our People Our Province” at Pehonan Theatre, the Milestones Exhibit in the Borealis Gallery, and check out the Chamber Floor in a Canada-Day-Only viewing. Plus, get there early for a free pancake breakfast starting at 7am!

 

Edmonton River Valley Fireworks Display

Starts at 11pm over the River Valley

This year, the fireworks display is choreographed to music by the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Tune in to CBC Radio 93.9 FM or 740 AM during the show to listen.

Some of the best places to view the display is going to be River Valley Road, Victoria Park, the Legislature Grounds, and Walterdale Hill Road (please note road closures such as Kinsmen Park, High Level Bridge, and Menzies Bridge). The event will also be livestreamed for those of us who can’t make it out downtown!

 

Mill Woods Canada Day Celebration

Mill Woods Park

Activities starting at 2:00pm

Head over to Mill Woods Park for the 30th annual Mill Woods Canada Day Celebration! Starting at 2pm, enjoy assorted children and family activities including a petting zoo, hay rides, carnival games, and entertainment! Opening ceremony begins at 6pm, and fireworks display starts at 11pm.

 

Strathcona County Canada Day Festival

Broadmoor Lake Park

Starts at 7:00am

Enjoy all sorts of family-friendly activities in Sherwood Park, starting at 7am and going all the way until the Fireworks Show at 11pm! Take part in swimming, music, the RE/MAX Pancake Breakfast, canoe rides, wagon rides, bubble soccer, face painting, and so much more. Most activities are free, some some require an activity ticket ($1 each) or an unlimited activity wristband ($5 each). St. Albert’s Canada Day 2022

St. Albert Place | 5 Anne St

Starts at 12pm

The city of St. Albert is celebrating Canada Day with family-friendly activities at St. Albert Place and Lion’s Park, along with an outdoor viewing of the movie Encanto at 6:00pm and 8:30pm. At 11pm, head over to the Meadowview Ball Diamonds (1 Meadowview Drive) for the fireworks show!

 

Fort Saskatchewan Canada Day Celebration

8:00am - 11:00pm

Start your day of Canada Day festivities off with a free Pancake Breakfast hosted at the Fort Saskatchewan Legion (make sure to make a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Society, and then pick where to go from there! You could head to the Farmers Market at the CN Railway Parking Lot, take advantage of free admission to the Heritage Precinct to explore Fort Saskatchewan’s history, set up to watch the Canada Day Parade downtown at 11am. Head to Legacy Park to take part in the family-friendly activities, including face painting, inflatables, rock climbing, human foosball, a ninja warrior obstacle course and live performances from local musicians and entertainers including The Strumbellas! Make sure to stay for the fireworks at the Rotary Amphitheatre starting at 11pm.

 

Stony Plain Canada Day Celebration

Heritage Park, Stony Plain & Parkland Pioneer Museum, & Main Street

There’s tons to do in Stony Plain on Canada Day! Head over to Heritage Park to see Dr. Von Houligan’s Family Extravaganza with live performances of juggling, magic, and balancing acts. There will be an Indigenous Cultural Exhibit with Elder’s Prayer, traditional hand drum singers, hoop dancing, and more. Enjoy the Dragon Dance by Silent River Kung Fu!

Over at Stony Plain & parkland Pioneer Museum, the Magician Chris Gowan is performing at 11:30am & 1:15pm, Friends Forever Puppets are scheduled for 10:30am & 12:15pm, and there are tons of Kids Zone Activities like Nerf battles, face painting, crafts, and more.

Devon Canada Day Celebration

The City of Devon is holding a Canada Day celebration with live entertainment, games, crafts, hotdogs, food trucks, and an artisan market!

Celebrating Canadian animals with special animal talks, live music, magic shows, scavenger hunts, activity tables, and more. All activities free with general admission ticket!
